Phase 5 · Lesson 13

Wisdom and Clear Judgment

The first virtue asks the quietest question: what do I actually know?

Skill in training: Let Wisdom audit the judgment before action does.

The Situation

You are certain a decision at work was aimed against you. You are preparing your response.

Core Insight

Wisdom is not knowing everything. It is refusing to act on more than you know.

Marcus Aurelius

Strip the event to what you would testify to under oath. What remains?

Examination Exercise

Apply the Wisdom test to the scenario: list knowns, unknowns, and the judgment that survives.

Write the surviving judgment.

Practice Beyond the Academy

Before one reaction today, ask aloud: what do I actually know? Act only on the remainder. Record the difference.

  • What did certainty cost you last time it was borrowed?
  • What does an honest 'I don't know' make possible?
